In mid January, our Under 10 team ventured out to the Platt Lane football complex to compete in the AJIS football festival.
In the opening match for our group, our young talents faced a tough challenge against the team from Newcastle Under Lyme, the eventual winners of the group. Despite the final score ending in a 0-0 draw, our team exhibited resilience and determination on the field, setting the tone for an eventful tournament.
The second game proved to be a thrilling encounter as we emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win against the team from Bridgewater. The highlight of the match was a brilliant goal scored by Elliot.
Facing a formidable opponent in the third game, the team displayed commendable effort against the King’s Macclesfield team, despite a 3-0 loss. Our players maintained a positive attitude and continued to give their best on the field.
The fourth game was a closely contested battle against Stockport Grammar, with both teams displaying skill and determination. Although the match ended in a 2-0 loss, the even nature of the game highlighted the competitive spirit and sportsmanship of both sides.
In the final game of the tournament, we finished on a high note with a 2-0 victory. Tristan emerged as the hero of the match, scoring both goals and securing a well-deserved win for the team.
Overall, our players demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and positive sportsmanship at the AJIS tournament. Each player contributed to the team’s success, and the festival provided valuable experiences that will undoubtedly contribute to their development as young footballers.
