Practice Makes Perfect – Abbey Gate College Shine at the ISA North Athletics Championships
Published on 14th May 2024
Last week, a group of students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 competed in the ISA North Athletics Championships at the City of Manchester Stadium.
All those who attended put on a fantastic display of talent, bathed in glorious sunshine.
The determination and dedication shown by these students, practicing hurdles, relays, and all field events in recent weeks on the All Weather Pitch, during lunchtime and after school clubs—even in less than ideal conditions—have truly paid off!
Congratulations to the Y7 (Pre Junior) boys and a combined Y8/9 (Junior) boys, both teams came away as overall school winners in their age groups against – 14 other ISA schools.
Our students were, as always, a credit to the College, earning valuable points in every event and contributing significantly to the school’s overall success.

A huge thanks to all the the coaching staff at Abbey Gate College, especially the PE department, who played a pivotal role in nurturing these talents, ensuring that each student reached their full potential. Additional thanks to Mrs Stammers in her role collating results – her efforts were truly appreciated by all the schools in attendance.
