Year 7 recently produced posters addressing the subject ‘Why study languages?’.

The pupils produced vibrant and informative work, highlighting some of the reasons for studying languages;

 

‘Languages are important to your education and studying them is really good for your memory…’

‘Study different languages to open up job opportunities and have fun, reduce prejudice, boost confidence, improve problem solving, strengthen decision making and make your brain bigger!’

‘Study languages to live abroad, explore cultures, speak to foreign people, work internationally…’

‘One of the most rewarding things about learning a new language is being able to connect with other people…’

 

The competition was judged by the Year 11 Language Ambassadors, and the winning entries (images below) were:

1^st prize of a £5 Amazon Voucher – Abbey D

2^nd Prize of a box of Maltesers – Amelie Dubs

3^rd prize, also a box of Maltesers – Amy Reynolds

4^th prize of 3 house points – Charles

5^th Prize, also 3 house points – Minnie

In addition to the Year 7 poster competition, a whole school quiz – ‘What Language’ was undertaken, and the grand prize of a £20 Amazon Voucher was awarded to deserved winner Ellie Pearson in Year 11.
