In July 2021, former pupil Henry Smith (Upper 6th at the time) took the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Diploma exam on the Tuba.
The result was released at the end of September and revealed that Henry gained a Distinction.
This is the highest musical qualification any pupil has achieved at Abbey Gate College.
His score of 86% was 16% above the 70 % required for a distinction.
This now entitles Henry to include the letters DipABRSM after his name.
Henry is now reading Music at Royal Holloway University of London where he has become the Junior Organ Scholar.
He has already participated in a week’s recording session with the famous Chapel Choir which took part at Buckfast Abbey, Devon.
