Thirteen Senior School pupils and Felix Hodgkinson from the Junior School impressively competed in the ISA National Athletics Finals on 19th June at Alexander Stadium.
Reece Munro, Year 7 started the day off well with a determined run in the 1500m to finish a clear 2nd. William Ashfield also in the 1500m for Year 10 finished strongly in 2nd, despite recovering from a heavy cold. Pupils continued to pick up top three finishes with Matthew Bailey in the 100m hurdles and Zak Packer in the 400m both picking up Bronze medals.
Ruby Wisbey, Year 8 stepped up as a last minute replacement in the 80m hurdles for Year 9 girls and ran a fantastic technical race to come 3rd and win another bronze medal. Florence Page-Evans ran well to finish 6th in the 100m with Harry Green 5th in the Year 9 Boys hurdles. Max Jones jumped a personal best in the Year 10 long jump and Seth Harriman had a seasons best in the shot put.
In the later events, in the 800m Callum Potter and James Lanni ran competitively to finish 4th and 8th. In the final relays Ruby Wisbey brought home a Gold for the Year 9 girls, running a fantastic last leg and Florence Page-Evans and Isabella Aura both contributed to a Silver for the Year 7 North team.
Head of PE, Mr Cutler said: “It was a highly enjoyable day. Our pupils rose to the challenge and all performed with determination. Their talents were clear for all to see.”
