It can’t be denied that the Cricket season for 2024 has been very slow to open due to the recent poor weather, both the our under 13 and under 15 cricket teams took to the field at Kings on a Monday evening in mid – June.

For our U13s, a solid bowling display from Joe B saw him take two wickets – this break through spurred the team on for a much improved second half to the innings with solid bowling from all denying Kings any chance to consistently score runs.

After a slow start to the batting Oliver K came in and impressed, quickly scoring with a number of 4’s on his way to retiring on 20 runs. Bibi G carried on where Oliver had left with a very solid performance consistently scoring with some intelligent running.

This was a really pleasing performance with a couple of debut’s for Year 7’s, Seb B and Toby MM

At the same time, our U15s bowled well despite the very strong sidewind, unfortunately this meant too many wides were conceded while trying to control the ball in this early season game.

Accurate bowling from Gabe G who meant he collected two wickets and a steady fielding performance led to a target of 65 for Kings to chase.

Their reply started slowly but when Felix H flicked a full ball over square leg for six, impetus was gained and maintained, with only ten needed from the final over.

Despite some strong hitting from Seb H our players came up five runs short.

It was an entertaining season opener, and we look forward to much more action this term
