In mid April, the Abbey Gate College Chapel Choir once again sang the evening service at St Paul’s Cathedral London. This is an annual tradition (paused during the Pandemic) that has been an honour for the College to be involved with for many years.
It was an amazing opportunity and experience for our choristers to sing in front of over 300 attendees. For many of the students this was their first experience of singing in St Paul’s Cathedral, making the 6 second echo the building enables particularly impressive.
Despite a long bus journey into London, they arrived in plenty of time, allowing the students a chance to have a walk over the river for lunch, and time to rehearse in the afternoon before the service.
Within the service, the choir sang canticles by H Brewer, and the anthem was ‘Greater Love hath no Man’ by John Ireland, with solos by Nellie and Rhys in the 6th form.
Another wonderful experience for our Chapel Choir, and an amazing location for them to share their love of choral music.
