Last week, our 7/8 and 9/10 Rounders teams competed in the ISA Rounders in Alderley Edge. The weather was fantastic, and set the tone for all the enthusiasm going into the tournament.
Our year 9/10 team came 3rd making a huge impact on their games with some excellent fieldwork team with notable number of ‘out’s’ in each game! We just missed out on a medal positioning however, the girls played excellently.
Alderley A: we lost 6.5 – 4
Hulme Hall Grammar: we won 9 – 3
Oldham Hulme: we lost 6 – 3
Onto our 7/8 team who blew us away coming 1st in the tournament! The girls smashed their first round with scores:
Hulme Hall Grammar: we won 2.5 – 3
Bridgewater: we won 1 – 9.5
Alderley B: we won 1 – 10
We then went into the final against Alderley Edge A with two innings to play. Nerves were high…and that was just from Miss Thomas and Mrs Axon!
After the first innings we were down 1.5 rounders, we needed to claw it back to get 1st position! We had managed to get 1.5 rounders to draw and with only two batters left. Eleri M hit the ball way left leaving the fielding team in a panic- she managed to score half a rounder putting us in the lead!
Our final batter Ella C had no pressure but smashed it out of the field scoring another half to really secure the win!
We are so proud of both teams for their sportsmanship and efforts, well done girls!
