Talented Pupils Attend The Shropshire Speech and Drama Festival

Abbey Gate College was recently represented at The Shropshire Speech and Drama Festival held at Moreton Hall School by 15 pupils from various year groups.

Harry Tomlins, Heather Churchill-Evans, Mimi Jayaram and Jessica Mills competed at the evening classes. Harry won the Prose Reading class and also The Adult class for performance in which Heather Churchill-Evans came 2nd.

Mimi Jayaram was placed 1st in Solo Drama, and 2nd in Prose Reading. Mimi and Jessica  won the 1st place medals for Acted Duologue.

The following day saw successes for Clara Carson and Amy Clayton, winning the Mime Duologue class and being placed 2nd in the Acting Duologue. Clara entered  the  mime class a second time with Emily ol Ho Holroyd and they were placed 3rd.

Mollie Pickering and Jodie Bennett were 2nd in the Mime Duologue class and Mollie won the Festival Trophy for Solo Drama and gained 2nd place in Prose Reading. Jodie was 3rd in Solo Drama.  Misty Mansfield and Maisie Watkins also competed well in their classes.

Libby Matthews of Year 7 won the trophy and 1st place in Verse Speaking and was placed 2nd in Solo Drama and in Prose Reading. Rafaele Lorrain also competed in poem and prose classes.

Erin Matthews and Kiri Kilgannon, pupils at The Infant and Junior School, were placed 1st and 2nd respectively in Poetry Speaking and Kiri was also 2nd in Prose Reading.
