Students Successfully Complete Their Duke of Edinburgh's Award Gold Expedition

In June, as temperatures soared, 11 Sixth Form students embarked on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award Assessed Expedition.

After an initial briefing in Llanddeusant, a village in the Brecon Beacons National Park, two groups set off and avoiding any major navigational errors arrived safely in Glyntawe, bar a few red faces!

Day Two was a 12 hour stroll for one group, who, armed with Factor 50 sun cream took plenty of rests in the shade to arrive at camp with only a few blisters.

Days Three and Four brought the challenge of climbing the peaks of the Brecon Beacons in the heat. However, a 5.30am start saw the students arrive in the town of Brecon in good spirits having covered 15 kilometres, aided by the sight of the Llanfaes Dairy ice cream parlour!
