Former Pupil Delivers Inspirational Talk to Sixth Form PE Students

Former pupil Alex Schwarz returned to the College to give an insight to students studying A level PE into the demands and commitment required in top level sport.

After leaving Abbey Gate College, Alex played a year of semi-professional rugby union in Italy before joining RGC based in North Wales. Injury hit Alex and he was forced to undergo neck surgery after being diagnosed with a prolapsed disc in his neck.

Alex, now 24, spent time in the sports and teaching pavilion explaining the attention to detail in video analysis and training regimes employed at the Parc Eirias Colwyn Bay training camp every day. Students were impressed with the instant statistical feedback and fitness requirements assessed prior and during every micro-planned training session.

As a scrum half, Alex explained how his newly found mental toughness (which he attributes to the influence of his head coach Phil Davies) has seen him prosper and play at the Millennium stadium recently.
