College Pupils Read Their Way to Raising £7,000 for Roald Dahl Foundation

Over the past few years, Year 7 pupils have taken part in a sponsored 'Readathon', which is a charity run by the Roald Dahl Foundation. It helps children who are in hospital by providing children's hospitals with regular storyteller visits, plus a mobile bookcase jam-packed full of brand-new books, which are replenished every six weeks.

Each child who takes part gets sponsorship money for the books they read and the total for year 7 pupils, past and present, amounts to over £7,000.

This fundraising activity brings the school community together in a shared activity that stretches keen readers to read more widely and motivates reluctant readers to discover the rewards of reading for themselves. This is an annual initiative and is launched alongside World Book Day.
