A rousing Chester Cup where the Year 7 team experienced and coped with all emotions in a very evenly contested game against Queens Park High. The College opened the scoring when a Dan Pittard- Wheeler cross was bundled home from close range by Jack Scaife. Queens Park High replied with a strong period of play with their centre-forward scoring two stunning goals, as well as being denied by some excellent goalkeeping from Christian Lewis. At half-time Queen Park High led 2-1.
The second half saw a more determined display with Luca Warwick and Kitt Baker driving the team forward. A corner saw Alex Stewart poke a loose ball home and then Joe Bowden swept a cross shot in for a 3-2 lead. Queen's Park High rallied and scored a deserved equaliser to take the game into extra time.
No further goals were scored in 14 minutes of extra time despite the efforts of both teams. Both teams also showed impressive penalty taking, which went finally to sudden death spot kicks. Abbey Gate College finally took the tie as Christian Lewin made the vital save for an 8-7 penalty shoot out win.
