To mark the arrival of the Olympic torch in our region, the Aldford School Sports Day had an Olympic theme this year.
Competition, fair play and fun ruled the day, with the event being the final House Competition of the year. The children, dressed in their House colours began the event by singing our school anthem, specially written by Junior pupils to mark the occasion and then cheered as our House Captains carried out our very own torch relay.
A mixed programme of events followed with children taking part in sprint, throwing, long distance and fun events such as the beanbag balance and football dribble. Winners received medals presented by Mrs Horner and Mrs Heywood on our specially built podium.
By the end of the races, the scores were very close but the final relay which involved boys and girls from every year group finally decided a winning house. Talbot were victorious and Zoe and Sam received the Sports Day cup on their behalf.
We would also like to thank the family of Annabel Kirk who were able to bring a real Olympic torch to the event; a real treat.
