Music is an important part of our curriculum and as such, each class receives a weekly lesson taught by a specialist music teacher.
All children have the opportunity to play a variety of percussion instruments, sing and compose. Lessons begin in the first year of schooling – Foundation Stage, and progress throughout the school with skills being developed year on year. At 7 years old, all our pupils learn to read music and play the recorder and are then invited to choose an instrument to learn to play.
Lessons are offered in a wide range of instruments from guitar, drums and piano to cornet, clarinet and flute. Singing lessons are also offered. Instrumentalists are encouraged to join our school band and perform in assemblies during the year to build confidence.
There are different musical extra curricular opportunities available. Aldford School has an excellent Junior choir who have performed in Chester Cathedral, Chester City FC and other local venues. A singing assembly takes place every week as well as band practice and a belle plates group.
