We are very fortunate at Abbey Gate College to have an active, thriving Social Committee - now called the PTFA (Parents Teachers and Friends Association), made up of staff and parents. It is an integral part of the school community.
Over the years, we have raised money for the school for those "nice to have extras” that benefit all pupils. We also help the school support their chosen charity for the year. The Social Committee however is not just about fundraising. As well as being great fun, it is an excellent way of meeting other parents, staff and making new friends, all with a common goal of supporting and enhancing school life and that of our children.
The main meetings are usually on a Tuesday evening at 7pm at the College, once every half term, whilst smaller groups may meet during the day over a cup of coffee. Regularity of these meetings is dependant on any given event and the work it entails.
The Social Committee support the school with such events as: Open Day, Sports Day and New Parents evenings, as well as arranging social functions such as coffee mornings, wine tasting events and the College Ball.
